Legal Advocacy & Assistance with Court Proceedings
SAFEPLAN: At the Resilience Center of Franklin County (RCFC), our SAFEPLAN Advocates support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking who are seeking protection through the court. Whether you're filing a restraining order (209A) or a harassment prevention order (258E), our advocates will walk you through the process, help you complete the paperwork, and stand by your side in court. Services are free and confidential. To connect with a SAFEPLAN Advocate or to learn more, call our hotline at: 413-772-0806.
Legal Information: Once a month, the Resilience Center of Franklin County (RCFC) hosts an attorney from the Court Service Center to provide free legal information to survivors. During these sessions, the attorney can answer legal questions, assist with completing court paperwork, and offer an overview of the legal process. This service is open to anyone impacted by domestic or sexual violence who needs support navigating the court system. To get connected or learn more call our hotline at 413-772-0806.
DVIP: Additionally, RCFC partners with the Massachusetts Northwestern District Attorney’s Office and local police departments to provide the Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP).
When a participating police department responds to a domestic violence incident, they notify DVIP. An on-call DVIP advocate then contacts the survivor to offer emotional support, safety planning, and referrals to services such as counseling, shelter, and legal advocacy—especially during times when the courts are closed.
This collaboration helps ensure that survivors have immediate access to support and resources when they need it most.
Medical Advocacy
RCFC advocates are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence during medical care and forensic exams. We provide on-call medical advocacy at local hospitals, including in-person support during Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) exams—sometimes known as rape kits.
Medical advocates are trained to support survivors as they navigate interactions with healthcare providers, police, and other systems, helping ensure that survivors' rights, choices, and dignity are respected throughout the process.
Whether it’s in the immediate aftermath or later on, survivors are never alone—RCFC is here to help every step of the way.
